(watch video YouTube Video Icon below for demo)

  • At the top of the personal balance sheet spreadsheet there is a total for all the assets, a total for all the liabilities and a total the net worth. Your net worth total will be a positive amount if your assets are greater than your liabilities. Your net worth total will be negative amount if your assets are greater than your liabilities. Your net worth total will be 0.00 if your assets are equal to your liabilities. The detailed list of assets and liabilities are listed below the grand totals.
  • The personal net worth calculator spreadsheet lists sample assets and sample liabilities. You can edit and change the assets and liabilities to fit your particular financial situation. Next to each asset and liability you can put the value or amount related to that particular asset or liability. The Excel net worth calculator tool does not estimate the value of your assets and liabilities but provides an Excel template for you to list them and their corresponding values and then totals them up using Excel formulas.
  • Sample asset types listed in the personal net worth calculator spreadsheet include cash on hand, checking account balances, money market account balances, saving account balances, market value of your car, market value of your home, and market value of your investments and retirement accounts. Sample liabilities listed include credit card debts, car loan debts, and school loan debts. You can add up to 50 different assets in the net worth calculator spreadsheet. You can add up to 50 different liabilities in the Excel net worth calculator.
  • The easy to use net worth tracker spreadsheet includes an Excel cell that you can add a date for your personal net worth statement since one's personal net worth can change over time so if you calculate your net worth, it is for that particular point in time that you estimated the values of your assets and liabilities. For example, some of your assets such as your home or investment property may increase in value over time and other assets such as a car will decrease in value over time, unless your talking about collectible classic cars. So your net worth today and what your net worth will be 1, 5, and 10 years from now will likely change based on the changes in market value of some assets.
  • How often you calculate your personal net worth is up to you and your personal finances. You may want to do it as much as once of month, if for example you are you are on a stick budget and working hard to pay down debts and save money and you want to see how are your progressing towards your goals of being debt free. Also, remember that determining the market value of some your assets such as a home is just an estimate. The actual value of what you get for your home will be determined when you sale it. The Excel net worth calculator does not estimate the market value of any particular asset or liability but once you determine those market value estimates such as for a home, the Excel template allows you to enter those amounts in the spreadsheet template and calculate your total net worth based off those estimates.
  • I also have a free online net worth calculator to estimate your net worth, however this personal balance sheet spreadsheet allows you the freedom to calculate your net worth in an Excel spreadsheet and save the Excel template as needed.
